I’m concerned about the possibility of sudden sea level rise: scientists studying rapid glacier melt estimate the Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica will fail within 3 to 5 years, 10 years at the outside. Other glaciers in Greenland are also showing signs of rapid melt, and may also fail in this time period, compounding the likelihood of sudden sea rise.
The citizens of Vallejo want to understand what can be done to prepare for this eventuality, and are asking for a public discussion of the science and the potential impacts to our homes and businesses.
Mayor McConnell, we are looking for your leadership in bringing this discussion to the City Council’s agenda.
Or, you can send him a post on Twitter/X @VjoCCMcConnell.
Prepare your home or business.
When the Vallejo Flood and Wastewater facility is submerged there will be nowhere for sewage to go. This means that when you flush your toilet it would flow into your neighbors’ bathrooms down the hill.
Sh*%#!t show. You can avoid having your own home or business flooded by installing a backflow prevention device.
You might also consider a composting toilet, and rainwater collection.
